AUTISM SCREENING ASSESSMENTS
AUTISM (ASD) SCREENING
ASSESSMENTS

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how people communicate, interact, learn, and behave. It's a spectrum condition, meaning it affects people in different ways, and can be diagnosed at any age.
Autism is not an illness. Being autistic does not mean you have an illness or disease. It means your brain works in a different way from other people.
What is the difference between an assessment and a screening?
A screening assessment only provides a ‘potential diagnosis’. For a formal diagnosis a full diagnostic assessment would be required. A screening assessment is recommended for those who are unsure if they meet ASD criteria and because of this are hesitant to book a full diagnostic assessment.

What can I expect from an ASD Screening?
-
For ASD Screening assessments we use the Galliam Autism Rating Scale (GARS) which is one of the most widely used instruments for the assessment of autism spectrum disorder in the world.
-
Age range that can be screened using GARS: 3–22 years old
-
The GARS yields standard scores, percentile ranks, severity level, and probability of autism.
-
You will receive a short report from a HCPC Reg. Psychologist confirming your results and clinical recommendations.
